It’s hard to imagine anything that cannot be found at Barras Market. A space rocket maybe … Still, in this market, there are always more surprises.

The Barras Market is a popular venue on the eastern edge of Glasgow city centre. It is a popular destination for bargain hunters. Indeed, this great bazaar is a tangle of open-air stalls, covered markets, independent shops and pubs. The Barras Market is over 100 years old. Before, I was told, one found their own way through it. Now, there is a map. It’s way easier to navigate inside. It does not stop me from spending hours there. While crisscrossing the market, I found cheap kilts, old records and a lot of stuff impossible to list. However, be careful with the opening hours. The Barras Market is only open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5pm.
